Alienware M15x and Ubuntu
Just received my Alienware M15x and install Ubuntu 8.04 on it.
No problem except for the sound.
Need to add the line
options snd-hda-intel model=mbp3
in file
/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base
Another little issue if you’re using AMsn and you don’t have sounds when you receive a message or when someone connect:
Go to Accound / Preferences / Others and replace
play $sound
with
aplay $sound
to use alsa sound server instead default library.
Like many m15x owners come to this site… I leave a hint.
On my laptop using
options snd-hda-intel model=6stack-dell
works Good for audio output… with auto-sensing working great.
I’ve not tested audio input yet.

Hi!
Many thanks for your hint!
With the last ubuntu (9.04) it seems the default configuration working great.
